Germany ruled Monday that Facebook Inc.'s policy that users must use their real names violates German law.

According to TechCrunch, the ruling said that German law requires online services to let users use a pseudonym or act anonymously, and that protects the ?fundamental rights and in particular the fundamental right to freedom of expression on the Internet.?

The ruling also demands that Facebook stop enforcing the "real name policy" in Germany, according to the report. Facebook told TechCrunch it plans to fight the ruling.
